On Monday, March 30, 2009, the long-awaited Grand Opening and unveiling of Regency Family Fitness & Racquets Club drew tremendous crowds. Members and their guests were treated to a tour of the completely redeveloped facility and were wowed by the beautiful surroundings and the high quality of fitness services and exercise equipment. More than 2,500 people went through the club in a three-hour period.

The Grand Opening Gala featured V.I.P. guests who helped with the official ribbon-cutting. These included Liberal Member of Parliament for Bramalea-Gore-Malton The Honourable Gurbax Singh Malhi. A former member of the club, Mr. Malhi postponed his trip to Ottawa to the House of Commons to be at the opening. He delivered a warm speech, praising the history of the Regency facility, and says he hopes to use the club himself when he's in town.

Robert Kennedy also had high praise for the new Regency club. The Publisher of MuscleMag and Oxygen Women's Fitness Magazines, Kennedy is the world's foremost authority on fitness and bodybuilding. He remarked that Regency is now one of the best-equipped gyms he has seen anywhere in the world.

Premier / Mademoiselle / Regency Fitness Clubs recently donated $35,000 worth of equipment to Sick Kids Hospital, and Shea-Lynn Maters of Sick Kids Foundation was present to accept the donation. Always a crowd favourite Fashion Television host Jeanne Beker was the emcee for the evening. Also taking part in the ribbon cutting ceremony was Board of Trade President Carman McClelland, best-selling author Tosca Reno of The Eat Clean Diet series of books, and former Canadian Heavyweight boxing legend and Hall-of-Famer George Chuvalo.

More than 3,650 have already enrolled in this club, which will most likely reach its maximum membership capacity of 5,000 quickly.

"We were incredibly pleased with the turnout at the Grand Opening," says Regency General Manager Eddy Aziz. "We know how important this club has been to Brampton residents for the past 30 years, and we are proud of the work that we've done in redeveloping this facility. Many of the people who toured the club at the opening were the original founding members from 30 years ago. They were amazed by the tremendous improvements we've made and most said they didn't even recognize the new club."

Brampton's first Five-Star family fitness facility incorporates luxurious finishes, dé cor and services. Members touring the club were most impressed by the spa-like locker rooms, private bathroom suites for women, granite circular vanity areas, oversized lockers and beautiful wood paneling throughout. "Everyone got a real appreciation for how comprehensive this 60,000 square-foot Family SuperClub is," Aziz adds, "and that we really do offer a one-stop fitness experience."

Brampton's largest and most prestigious fitness facility, Regency Family Fitness & Racquets Club houses racquetball and squash courts; an aquatic centre with a 25-metre seven-lane pool, family pool and kids' water park and Making Waves Swim School; basketball court; indoor running track; outstanding workout facilities; luxuriously appointed executive locker rooms and separate family locker rooms; over 100 pieces of brand new cardio equipment with built-in plasma TVs; the latest, greatest exercise equipment, aerobics and cycling studios; a PlayZone Youth Fitness Club for ages 8 to 17; the exclusive Dr. Weight Loss Clinic; Juice Bar Café and much more.
